This landmark exhibition presents modern masterpieces drawn from Russia’s principal collections: the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Art and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the State Hermitage Museum and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.

I met my grandfather Peter for lunch and he took me to The Royal Over Seas League, which is behind the Ritz in Mayfair – a treat..

After a 3 hour lunch and a great chat, we made our way to The Royal Academy where we met up with my auntie and cousins. As we walked round, a man came up to me to ask if i was a pilot. He had recognized me from the recent article in todays pilot. He too is a pilot and has his aeroplane in Duxford. As we got chatting, i find out that he speaks Bengali and knows Kolkatta very well. He runs a humanitarian organization based in Cambridge. He has invited me to attend a lecture next week where the head of UNICEF will give a speech.

This will be a great way to learn more about the work of this pilot and get to meet the Director of UNICEF, one of the partners in the global polio eradication campaign.

My grandfather is not a fan of modern art. The final room in the RA was all modern art. A couple of paintings stood out to me, and one of them is this one below by Kasmir Malevich painted in 1919. It was only on the second look that Peter noticed that it is called “Aviator’
